Whats New

Fit to tow
The Highways AgencyIf you’re taking to the roads with a caravan, trailer or horsebox, don’t set out without a final safety and maintenance check, especially if you leave it standing for most of the year.
To raise awareness of the safety risks involved when towing a caravan or trailer and the importance of ensuring you are towing safely, the Highways Agency has issued a new safety DVD, Fit to Tow, presented by Carol Smillie.

The Caravan Club’s essential two-volume, continental European sites guide and touring handbook, Caravan Europe, is now on sale in major bookshops throughout the UK, and online via The Club’s website at http://www.caravanclub.co.uk

With more pages, and at last year’s price, the guide offers fantastic value for money!

As a result of Club members’ recommendations, more sites are listed than ever before. Each volume has grown in size, and in total {quote_top} Caravan Europe contains details of 7,800 sites in 22 countries – with 3,800 in France alone.

This year’s edition is even more user friendly and includes full colour mapping at the end of each section. {quote_middle}In addition Caravan Europe gives distance charts on a country and European scale, as well as invaluable guidance on mountain passes and tunnels, and avoiding traffic blackspots.  Its advice on continental motoring, including international road signs, motorway tolls, essential equipment and emergency procedures, make it the ‘must have’ glovebox item for touring in continental Europe – for first-timers and ‘old hands’ alike!

Editor Bernice Hoare is sure the new Caravan Europe will be even more popular than previous editions.  “We get a great deal of feedback from readers who tell us how incredibly useful this publication is,” she commented.  “The fact that this year’s edition is even more user friendly will surely please our readers.”

{quote_bottom}“The wealth of information contained in the pages of these guides is second to none, and with even more sites reported on, the choice is there for caravanners and motorcaravan owners to get out and have fantastic European touring holidays.”

Volume 1

Andorra, France, Spain, Portugal

Volume 2

Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland

I bought a copy. It is quite good. My problem is I am planning a trip to Spain, via the CH Tunnel and down through France. Most of the campsites in the guide are seasonal. It could do with an "out of season" section for those of us who are trying to escape the UK in winter.

We are members of the caravan club and used the guide as we travelled through Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands and we did not need any other campsites. The instructions are clear and the info at the start of each country section is really useful. We highly recommend it after finding it invaluble. The only thing was that our tomtom let us down on several occasions and failed to find the campsite location. We always followed the directions in the book after ending up being led down private estates and lanes that went no where- not easy to do a three point turn with a caravan! smilies/grin.gif
